About Glass Railing
Glass railing uses tempered glass panels as the infill between posts, or in frameless systems held by spigots or base channels. It keeps views as open as possible and blocks wind, which is why it is popular on waterfront decks, pool areas, balconies, rooftops and commercial spaces. Glass gives a clean, modern look and pairs well with stainless, aluminum and steel. Regular cleaning keeps panels clear of salt spray, pollen and water spots.
This page includes four Vista systems: Framed Glass, Frameless Glass with Posts, LED Frameless Glass with Spigots and Architectural Glass Railing, plus Deckorators Glass Rail. Framed systems hold the glass in a top and bottom rail and are usually the most budget-friendly. Frameless systems offer the cleanest look but typically cost more, and the LED option adds built-in lighting. Glass type, thickness and mounting depend on the system, so check local code and the manufacturer's installation guide.
How to choose
- Do you want framed glass or a frameless look?
- Is wind block or view the main goal?
- Will the glass mount on posts, spigots or a base channel?
- How often can you clean salt spray and water spots?
- Do you want built-in LED lighting?
- Confirm glass lead times, since panels are often cut to size.
