A second-story deck can shade a great patio, but water dripping through the boards makes the space below hard to use. TimberTech DrySpace solves that by channeling water away from the area beneath the deck, turning it into usable covered space for seating, storage or an outdoor kitchen.
The system is made of solid extruded vinyl and attaches to the joists of a new deck or an existing one. It comes in kits sized to joist spacing: 12 in. on center kits in 12 ft lengths, and 16 in. on center kits in 12 or 16 ft lengths. TimberTech notes that its DeckCleaner is safe to use on DrySpace.
Instructions are included, and installation uses common hardware store tools and materials. One person can do it, though two make it easier.
