About Structural Screws (Strong-Drive & Timber Drive)
Heavy deck, dock and framing connections call for fasteners built for the job. Simpson Strong-Tie fastening systems include Strong-Drive and Deck Drive screws, plus the Timber Drive structural screw system, a stand-up tool for driving large structural screws on decks, docks and boardwalks.
The Strong-Drive line includes the SDWS Timber exterior-grade structural wood screw, the SDWS Framing screw and the SDWH Timber-Hex HDG hex-head hot-dip galvanized screw. For waterfront work, the SDWS Timber SS is a Type 316 stainless steel structural screw for docks, piers, boardwalks and saltwater environments, with no predrilling required. Strong-Drive SD and SDS connector screws are used with connectors and holdowns, including the HDUE. The line is built for higher load capacity, corrosion resistance and efficient installation.
