Barbed Wire
Barbed wire for cattle perimeter and cross fencing, available in 2-point and 4-point barbs on 80-rod spools for ranchers, farm owners and fence contractors.
About Barbed Wire
Barbed wire is two twisted line wires with barbs wrapped at set intervals. It is the standard choice for cattle perimeter and cross fencing in most U.S. regions. It is not recommended for horses, sheep or goats.
Options include barbless, 2-point and 4-point wire with barb spacing of 4 or 5 in. Line wire is commonly 12.5 gauge, and 15.5 gauge high-tensile wire is also sold. Zinc coating is typically Class 1, with heavier classes available for longer life. The common package is the 80-rod (1,320 ft) spool, and the product is made to ASTM A121 for zinc-coated barbed wire. A cattle fence generally uses 4 or 5 strands, or barbed strands run on top of woven wire, at a minimum height of 60 in.
For a quote, send the total fence length, strand count, gauge, point count and coating class, along with posts, stays and staples if you want the full package. Axiom South ships nationwide.

Frequently asked questions
Is barbed wire safe for horses?
Grazing cattle rarely suffer serious injury, but horses can be badly hurt. Horse fences normally use visible no-climb mesh, boards or rails instead.
What do zinc coating classes mean?
Class I has the thinnest zinc coating and the shortest service life; Class III is heaviest and lasts longest. Pick a heavier class for longer life.
