About Fortress Evolution Stair Framing
Deck stairs are often where wood framing shows wear first. The Fortress Evolution Steel Stair System uses 2×11 beam stringers (8, 12, 16 or 20 ft) or 16 ga 2×6 joist stringers (12 to 20 ft) with preset or adjustable brackets and steel stair trays, all in Black Sand powder coat. It is noncombustible and works with any decking.
Preset brackets set a 7 in rise with 11 in run or a 7-3/4 in rise with 11 in run, and adjustable brackets use set pins. Stair trays come in a 48 in fixed run, or an adjustable 48 in tray with a 10 to 11 in run. Brackets slide over the Evolution joist, and an anchor bracket connects the stringer to a footing, slab or pier. Fortress offers a Technical Evaluation Report for permits and a 25-year limited warranty.
