TimberTech Cortex is a hidden fastening system that pairs a TORX ttap screw with color-matched plugs, giving TimberTech decks a face-fastened hold without visible screw heads.
About TimberTech Cortex & PAMFast Fastening System
TimberTech Cortex hides the screw instead of hiding the fastener under the board. A TORX ttap screw goes through the face of the board, and a color-matched plug covers the hole. It can be used over the entire deck surface, including stairs and perimeters.
Packs are sized by coverage. The 100 sq ft pack has 350 screws and 400 plugs, and the 300 sq ft pack has 1,050 screws and 1,200 plugs, each available with loose or collated plugs. A 100 sq ft 316 stainless pack includes 350 screws. Collated screws for the PAMFast stand-up tool are also available. Predrill only below 40 F, above 80 F or into old framing.
Cortex is not for scalloped boards such as Terrain, Prime, Prime+ and Reliaboard, and TimberTech says Cortex for Advanced PVC is not compatible with metal framing. For steel framing, TimberTech points to Cortex Drillers (1-5/8 in. 410 stainless screws) from FastenMaster. Ask us to confirm the right Cortex pack before ordering for steel or aluminum framing. Frequently asked questions
Can Cortex be used with steel or aluminum framing?
No. TimberTech says Cortex for Advanced PVC is not compatible with metal framing. For steel framing it points to Cortex Drillers from FastenMaster; ask us to confirm the right option for your framing.
