Deckorators Decking as Cladding uses 7/8 in. Surestone boards on exterior walls. Surestone is a mineral-based composite with a stain- and fade-resistant cap, and the manufacturer notes minimal expansion and contraction. The boards are made in the USA and carry a 50-year structural warranty.
Colors come from three lines. Voyage offers Mesa, Sedona, Sierra, Tundra, Costa and Khaya; Summit offers Glacier, Boulder and Cliffside; and Picture Frame Board comes in Dark Slate. Solid-edge boards run 3-1/2, 5-1/2, 7-1/4 and 9-1/4 in. wide, with grooved-edge boards in 3-1/2, 5-1/2 and 7-1/4 in. widths, in lengths from 12 to 21 ft depending on width.
For vertical or angled walls, Deckorators specifies face-screwing into pressure-treated furring strips with Pro Fastening System counterbored screws and color-matched caps, since Stowaway hidden clips do not suit long boards in those orientations. When quoting, include wall area, orientation, color, edge type and board lengths, plus furring and fasteners.
