About Direct Fastening (Gas & Powder-Actuated)
Direct fastening is the fast way to attach metal framing track, clips and conduit to concrete, CMU and steel without drilling. Simpson Strong-Tie offers both powder-actuated and gas-actuated tools for that work.
The powder-actuated lineup includes the PT-27, a .27 caliber semi-automatic tool, the PTP-27L, a .27 caliber automatic tool with piston return, and the PT-22A, a .22 caliber semi-automatic tool. The G3 is a gas-actuated tool that runs on the GFC34 fuel cell. Supporting products include PAT fasteners and loads, PAT accessories such as the zinc 90-degree clip, gas fasteners and conduit clips, and replacement parts.
Powder-actuated tools are for qualified operators only. Simpson notes that operator PAT certification is required, with training and an exam leading to an operator license. Drywall and metal framing contractors, electricians and mechanical trades are typical buyers.
