Overview

About Composite Cladding

Composite cladding is an exterior wall finish made from a blend of recycled wood fiber and plastic, shaped into boards that look like painted or stained wood. People use it on accent walls, full house exteriors, porch ceilings, outdoor kitchen surrounds and commercial facades where they want the warmth of a wood look without the routine sanding, staining and sealing. On the Gulf Coast, its resistance to moisture and insects makes it a practical choice for homes that see humidity, salt air and strong sun.

Options on this page include Envision Composite Cladding, Trex Cladding, MoistureShield Composite Cladding, Eva-Last VistaClad and two Sylvanix lines, the Designer Collection and Soar Signature Cladding. They differ in board profile, color range, surface texture and how the boards attach to the wall. Some projects use Deckorators decking as cladding so a wall or ceiling matches an existing deck. Budgets vary by line, so compare samples and pricing side by side, and expect maintenance to be mostly occasional cleaning.

How to choose

  • Do you want a smooth painted look, a wood grain, or a modern wide-board profile?
  • Will the cladding match an existing deck, railing or trim color?
  • How much direct sun and salt air will the wall face?
  • Is the wall vertical, horizontal or a ceiling, and what attachment system fits?
  • What is your budget per square foot, and how much waste should you plan for?
  • Confirm lead times on your chosen color before scheduling the installer.
